New Trailer! - 2006

To the regular readers of On the Run (the new name for our race report) as features in Dragster Magazine, you will be well aware of our many trials and tribulations during the long hauls from Rock Vegas to Townsville, Sydney, Willowbank and parts in between - the dreaded trailer accidents.

In 2006, with many thanks to Heather, we have been able to hopefully rectified that situation once and for all. After looking at many trailer manufacturers we have sort to go with Alan Woods - Rebound Metal Products, principally because he is a racer, even though he is one of those dreaded sprint car dirt racers and not the super clean drag racers. Nathan's nick name for Alan is air time Al as just prior to the Willowbank 4th February meeting we watched him do multiple flicks with his sprint car at Archerfield in the heats on the Friday night.

So if there is anyone out there looking for a specialist trailer, I suggest you call air time Al, his mobile is 0412 731 608 - phone no. 07 3277 5555 - fax 07 3277 5535. He is located just near the speedway at Archerfield - 64 Colebard Street East - Acacia Ridge - Qld 4110. Alan has a pretty complete workshop there with a number of trailers on the go, including one for the drift king Laurie Bolger and he also runs a speedways spare business for all sorts of sprint car and assorted speedway equipment.

His first three photo's show the bare chassis of the trailer and we look forward to adding some more next week as I will be down to check on it Tuesday 14th February because we have to leave for Western Australia - Friday 24th February. This one will not break - have a look at the main bearers and the axles. 6 Tonne axles with the same wheels as the truck
- polished Alcoa and hopefully our trailer problems are over. We will be able to carry two race cars up the top plus hopefully a spare bullet and two motor bikes on the bottom.

Principly the cost racing is just get higher and higher and we wish to be able to take other racers on the long hauls, let them stay at work and fly down on the Friday night and share in the fuel and transportation costs.

The main box of the trailer is 30' long (9metres), 2.5 wide and 4 metresfrom the ground with a 1.2 metre door either side so two teams can work out of it at the one time.

More news next week.

Regards

PETER PEIRANO
