Morning Bulletin 22nd Nov 2013 - Our Time Traveller set to go on track at Sydney Dragway

READY, SET: Nathan Peirano for Piranha Racing with their Time Traveller head off to Sydney this weekend for the most anticipated meeting outside of the USA in years.

ALL eyes will be on Nathan Peirano tomorrow as he tears up the track at Sydney Dragway.

Prominent Rockhampton drag racer Peirano will rub shoulders with some of the best drivers in the world this weekend, as the much-awaited Aeroflow and Rocket Industries competition gears up.

As part of Piranha Racing, Peirano will head south with his 3500 horsepower Time Traveller for the most anticipated contest outside of the USA in years.

Up against 11 Outlaw Nitro Funny Car drivers, including USA NHRA star Ron Capps and New Zealand's Willy White, Peirano said his game plan was simple.

"We've had about two months of preparation in the lead-up to this and we have a pretty simple plan - get to the end of the track and depend on one of the big guys to make a mistake," Peirano said.

"This is the first time they've held it and I'm really looking forward to it.

"This weekend is sort of a round-robin competition and while there is a winner, it's more about the show and the experience.

"With this car we started at Benaraby in March and then raced in Mackay in September but this is our first major meeting and is the start of a series which will run until November next year."

While bringing home the bacon was the ultimate goal, it was going to be a tough ask against a champion driver like Capps.

Peirano said just to be at the competition was an amazing achievement for the whole Piranha Racing team.

The event will also feature the 2013 Australian Pro Street Association finals.
